Events Executive – EURACTIV

The EURACTIV Events Team has expanded quickly over the past three years, more than doubling the number of events organised.

We now organise over 70 policy events in Brussels every year addressing various topics, bringing together a wide variety of stakeholders from the EU Institutions, industry and civil society.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join the EU Affairs Team in our Brussels office. The Events Executive will work closely with other team members to implement policy events.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience and visibility in EU affairs, work in a dynamic team, and develop your ideas to improve our services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Draft materials for events such as invitations and participant lists.
  • Send invitations to participants, co-ordinating the registration process.
  • Keep contact database updated.
  • Manage logistical organisation of the events (e.g. prepare material to distribute, arrange venue, order catering).
  • Ensure the smooth running of events on the day (e.g. register guests, help with audio-visual equipment).
  • Prepare reports following events.
  • Update and maintain the events website and social media.
  • Coordinate with EURACTIV’s Communications Officer for event outreach and visibility.
  • Occasional work outside regular office hours will be required. (Can be recuperated at quieter times.)
  • Other tasks as required.

Job requirements / profile:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: event organisation, EU public affairs, client management, fundraising/communication/media/trade associations.
  • A University Degree.
  • Strong communications skills, including some knowledge of digital communications strategies.
  • Excellent social, communication skills and team spirit, with a hands-on and solutions-driven work mentality.
  • Strong work ethic, fast and hard-working, good multitasking skills.
  • Critical and creative thinking with a desire to learn in a fast-paced and international environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility, show flexibility.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Good computer skills- especially MS Office and Google tools – and knowledge of social media tools (e.g. Twitter, Facebook)
  • Excellent written English. (Other EU languages an advantage.)
  • Experience in servicing client demands.
