Community Manager, Communications Unit – Vacancy notice – Contractual Agent (FG III)

This is to inform you that the Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament is looking for a full-time Community Manager (fixed-term contractual agent position for at least two years renewable, function group III).

The Communication Strategy Unit of the Greens/EFA group seeks a dedicated Community Manager to join its’ team in Brussels. The selected candidate will work on developing our online communities and follower-base by participating in discussions, finding new supporters and listening to the current supporters and audiences. The person will work on understanding and advising the team on what the main concerns are for our supporters in different countries. It will require close working relationships with the social media and web teams to monitor and analyse online engagement on our digital channels.

The role will involve working closely with our digital team, campaigners and outreach officers, as well as Green/EFA MEPs, staff and assistants to develop a community engagement strategy. S/He will be responsible for the rollout of email campaigns of the Group, management of our CRM system (Action Network) and will develop user-journeys and email strategies in close coordination with the digital team.  S/he will assist in answers questions on social media, participates in online discussions on platforms on behalf of the Group, engages with NGOs and our “competitors” online. S/he finds new ways to engage the digital communities and creating a strategy for developing the online community. Together with the campaigners and social media team, s/he works together on writing petitions, calls to action or offline/online actions.

The role also involve keeping our contact database up-to-date and GDPR-compliant, as well as continuous testing and analysing our email engagement strategies and other outreach plans. Such work will feed into the Group’s overall political and communication strategy.

Tasks to be performed:

  • Developing the online community around the Greens/EFA group by participating in discussions on social media, finding new supporters and listening to the current ones
  • Understanding and advising the team on what the main concerns are for our supporters in the different countries and how to mobilise them
  • Feeding in to the email strategy developed by the digital team and wider communications unit
  • Implementing and managing the process of sending email campaigns to our audiences
  • Daily management of our CRM system and ensuring that our contact database is up to date, that the is clean and GDPR compliant
  • Providing technical support and advice for email and community engagement projects to the wider team and Green/EFA Group
  • Together with the campaigners, working together on writing petitions, calls to action or offline/online actions
  • Listening to the needs and concerns of our followers all over Europe
  • Developing and implementing offline and online actions together with the team to support the group’s political goals
  • Helping organising events that contribute to community building
  • Ensuring that the Group’s visual identity is respected on all products that go out via email campaigns
  • Supporting the Communications and Campaigns & Outreach teams in brainstorming the best options for community engagement on key priorities, campaigns and topics.
  • Analysing the impact of email campaigns, ensuring continuous development and improvement of such work
  • Assisting with advertising projects where community engagement insight is required.
  • Following trends and new technologies in the area of community engagement, email and outreach to ensure we are at the cutting-edge when it comes to delivering our strategy.
  • Maintenance of software/technical equipment when required
  • Developing content for email, regular writing and collating of information from the wider team

Qualifications, experience and desired skills requested:

  • Work experience of 2 years or more
  • Very good knowledge of English and of at least one other EU language
  • Work experience in the field of community engagement, email strategy, CRM-management
  • Hands on experience with community management tools including social media and e-campaigning (petitions, calls to action, offline actions)
  • Knowledge of online marketing
  • Experience in mobilising people towards action and building engaging relationships with people
  • Knowledge of social listening tools to generate insights
  • Excellent writing skills for digital campaigns
  • Experience online content and modern storytelling
  • Fast and precise working style and a high degree of flexibility
  • Familiarity with the Green/EFA Group’s values, positions and public presentation
  • Excellent analysis skills and a proven record of strategic planning and creative-development, including the design and implementation of multiple projects at once;
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to be self-motivated and a stress-resistant team player
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple requests and projects at the same time
  • Very good writing skills and knowledge of organisational methodology
  • Open-mindedness, communicative attitude and experience in working in a multi-cultural team;
  • Ability to problem-solve, with an emphasis on creativity and brainstorming new ideas;
  • Being a team-player and ready to work flexible hours, including work-related travel.

Assets

  • Knowledge of the European institutions, EU legislation and decision-making process
  • Educational background in line with the function
