Communications Officer – Future for Religious Heritage (FRH)

About FRH

FRH is a non faith, non for profit European network bringing together people and organisations who want to save and protect Europe’s religious heritage. With over 170 members across Europe, present in more than 35 countries, FRH brings together professionals in the field of conservation, restoration, architecture, and artisanship, as well as associations, universities, and research centres.

FRH is a proud member of the European Heritage Alliance 3.3; the European Commission Expert Group on Cultural Heritage; the Climate Heritage Network and the the Reflection Group ‘EU and Cultural Heritage’, sharing the voice of the sector on all levels, from grassroots discussions to high level forums.

Our office is based in Brussels, at the heart of the European quarter. It now has 2 staff members supported by dedicated and passionate volunteers. FRH’s governing body is the Council, which currently has 12 members.

FRH is seeking a Communications Officer to be responsible for the network’s internal and external communications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the aims and activities of FRH through relevant communication and PR actions;
  • Planning and implementing of the communication strategy using online and offline platforms;
  • Creating dynamic content both for our members as well as external audiences;
  • Monitoring the field of cultural heritage; researching news items and sourcing original content from FRH members;
  • Developing and updating social media channels and strategy;
  • Producing a monthly Newsletter with interesting articles and relevant news;
  • Where needed, providing support to the Council and the Executive officer both in the field of communication as well as administrative tasks;
  • Where needed, responding to queries and representing the organisation towards members and non-members;

Experience and education

  • At least 2 years work experience in Communications;
  • Relevant field of study or proven experience in Communications.

Key skills

  • Excellent communication skills in English. Any additional language skills are a plus;
  • Interest in cultural heritage, interest in working for a European member-driven network;
  • Well-structured and organised;
  • Ability to take a flexible approach and adapt quickly to changing circumstances;
  • Provide clear, concise and timely oral and written communication;
  • Willingness to travel withing Europe on occasional basis;
  • Ability to work both on your own initiative and within teams in an international and multicultural environment;
  • IT literacy; MS Office, social media platforms, WordPress, MailChimp;
  • Can legally work in Belgium, preferably already based in Brussels.
