Farm Europe – Pan European think tank for agriculture and food systems – has a vacancy for a full time Project Assistant, employed as an intern or within a ‘Convention d’immersion professionnelle’ contract. The six months mission main objective will be to support:
- our research activities in relation to the future of the Common Agricultural Policy and the sustainability of agri-food systems in the EU and worldwide.
- Our related communication (website & other media tools, organization of events in Brussels and across the EU…)
The position is initially 5 days per week (full time) for six months with the possibility of extension depending on the outcomes or other funding opportunities.
Profile and requirements:
- You have excellent written and spoken English skills and are ideally fluent in other EU languages (e.g. German, Spanish, French)
- You are a recent graduate or at the end of your curriculum in the field of agro-economist, agriculture and environmental policies
- You are confident interacting with colleagues, other NGOs, industry, academics and representatives of EU Institutions
- You have good communication, organizational and networking skills
- You have some experience in modeling and building pan EU approaches based on statistical scenarios
- You are able to deliver accurate, high quality work on time to short deadlines
- You are a quick learner who is motivated to go deeper into issues in view of finding solutions, passionate for agriculture and EU food systems
- You will be happy working as part of a team as well as taking the initiative on your own
- You share the core values of Farm Europe and can demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to economic sustainability of the farming sector while found the best levers to respond to environmental and societal expectations.
Main responsibilities:
- Close follow-up of the legislative procedure on environment, agriculture and governance, micro & macro economic assessment of agronomic practices
- Consultation with experts to develop ideas on the best ways to increase both economic and environmental performance of EU agriculture
- Drafting note, reports and policy briefing under the management of a senior researcher of the think tank.
- Participating in meetings with decision makers (e.g. European Commission and Members of the European Parliament, etc.)
- Participation in regular meetings and note taking
